Preparations for the trip went pretty well. We had the westrailer pre-loaded and the camping gear had all been checked out. For this trip we would be taking essential items ONLY.

We got on the road precisely according to schedule putting us smack in the middle of the Easter Weekend rush hour. Sigh. Luckily the weather was good, so it only took an hour to get across the city. We stopped near St Catharines for some dinner and then again at the Duty Free to get some Sleemans for Jamie Auch.

The border crossing went as smoothly as usual... I was asked to open the various doors on the westrailer and our coolers for inspection but there were no problems and we were over the border in short order. Down the road to the Best Western in Erie, PA where we discovered that Easter Weekend is a busy time in the hotel industry. Go figure. The room was clean and the kids watched a bit of TV to unwind before we fell asleep at about 1 AM.

Note:
That bump on the bottom of the pic above is a video camera; here’s  a clip of the trip from toronto to grimsby.

Unfortunately the video software choked after about 90 minutes, so I wasn’t able to get a decent capture until later in the week.

Toronto, ON to Erie PA.
