Set up for camping at Buses By The Falls, June 2001."Bob The Tomato" is a Westfakia composed from a 1979 VW transporter with a 1973 interior and a 1974 engine and pop-top. The name came just after I had the bus painted, and I noticed a definite resemblance to the character Bob in the series "Veggie Tales".

I started the westfakia project in February 2000, when Matt De Niola offered up a 1979 transporter "Free to a good home". At the time I had a 1973 westy that was rusting to death, but it had a nice interior and a strong engine and transmission. These were a perfect combination, as the free bus had no interior, and no driveline either. It was a well-picked shell, but it was also very solid, and was still on it's original paint. I made arrangements to pick the bus up in the spring, and drove 700 miles to NH with a dolly to bring it home on April 1st, 2001.
